Festival of the Cats
The parade remembers an Ypres
tradition from the Middle Ages in which cats were thrown from the
belfry tower of the Cloth Hall to the town square below. During the
Cats parade nowadays they use toy cats to throw down. Participants in
the festivities often dress as cats, witches, or townspeople from ages
past.

Brussels Jazz Marathon weekend
125 free concerts and more than 450 musicians await jazz lovers on the

Opening of the Magritte Museum
The collection is a perfect
proof of René Magritte's oeuvre and covers all the periods from his
life. The works on display, among which his most important
masterpieces, are mainly from the legacies of Irène Scutenaire-Hamoir
and Georgette Magritte and from purchases made by the Royal Museums for
Fine Arts of Belgium, completed with works on loan from private persons.
